Abstract: This textbook, written for grades 9-12, sequentially covers topics in chemistry, physics, human biology, Earth science, and space science. In addition, mathematical applications are woven into every lesson. The text utilizes numerous supporting features to scaffold student comprehension. For example, Real World Application and Connections To boxes connect the material to everyday life, whereas math skills are reinforced through practice questions and Math Skills tutorials. Similarly, student critical thinking is supported through Inquiry Labs and Design Your Own Labs. Color photos and diagrams augment the material. Supplemental materials include worksheets, math skills lessons, and enrichment resources. A CD for Spanish-speaking students supports their conceptual learning by providing a verbal translation of both the text and diagrams. (Author/KRG)
