Abstract: This textbook provides an introduction to key ideas in chemistry, physics, and Earth and space sciences. The book follows an integrative approach with an emphasis on the science in everyday life. Content is presented in a flexible format, which allows different pacing options to accommodate the needs of students and district requirements. Some of the topics covered in the book's 26 chapters include matter, chemical reactions, motion, and waves as well as magnetism, weather, and the solar system. Color photographs, diagrams, and tables support the text, along with a number of Feature boxes, which explore topics in more depth, describe technological advancements, and present opposing viewpoints of controversial science issues. Additional supports include in-text inquiry activities and laboratories, icons that direct readers to the publisher's online interactive textbook, and Discovery Channel School video field trips that are available separately.
