Abstract:
This booklet, developed for grade 6 to 8 teachers, is part of a thirteen volume series developed to support the Teacher/Student Resource books that address key health topics. These Health Fact books provide additional background material on critical health issues. This book, Disease, discusses the concept of prevention and provides an introduction to infectious and noninfectious diseases. Topics include the life style behaviors that threaten health, antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria, an overview of immunology, genetic diseases, autoimmunity, and mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder.
